As a psychiatrist, I am fascinated by the subtle manipulation marketers use in commercials to get their target clients to buy their products. In this article I would like to explain what makes 11 of the best commercials I have ever seen so catchy.

So in honor of the embarrassing and often painful ad campaigns over the past few years, we present this look into the top ten worst PlayStation brand ads ever. We’re sure Sony won’t be too happy about us digging up old skeletons, but this is history and an interesting one at that.

Creating an emotional connection is crucial to effective marketing campaigns. One common technique is to arouse the feeling of shock. Some of these ad campaigns really push the limits of what could be considered an effective visual. They include print ads, TV spots, online virals and guerrilla marketing campaigns. Many are disturbing, and most are controversial.
